Kwatta in de Middellaan

This is the result of our entertainment project about the street where i'm living.

I chose The Kwatta Chocolate Factory as a subject and made an intro-animation for a nostalgic, historical documentary. Beware of the music, this song will eat your mind if you listen to it too many times!

Dit was de opdracht:

Je wordt gevraagd om als illustrator een rol te spelen bij de duiding en verluchtiging van de onderdelen van een avondvullend TV-programma over jouw straat. Dit is ofwel de straat waar je nu woont, ofwel de straat waar je ouderlijk huis staat. Je neemt als illustrator een duidelijke stelling in en draagt deze ook uit in de beeldvoering en communicatie.

Concreet wordt je gevraagd de volgende dingen te maken/doen: A Een project logboek waarin je zowel het inhoudelijke onderzoek als het beeldonderzoek (schetsboek) laat zien.

• Welke rol kan een illustrator spelen in de visuele identiteit van zo’n avondvullend tv programma?

• Wat is de visuele identiteit van doelgroep en omroep op wie je jouw werk richt? Onderzoek eerst kort de

(visuele) kenmerken van soortgelijke programma's voor verschillende omroepen en stel daarna jouw doelgroep

en omroep bewust vast.

• Wat zijn de inhoudelijke aspecten van de door jouw gekozen straat (bewoners, woningen, buurt, wijk, stad)?

Welke accenten zou je willen leggen?

• Hoe ziet jouw straat eruit (beeldonderzoek in diverse media)?

• Narratologie: hoe vertel je jouw verhaal van de straat in beeld? Welk verhaal ga je vertellen en waarom juist dat

verhaal?

B Visuele presentatie van jouw projectontwikkeling op A3. Infographic waarin je de ontwikkeling van schets naar eindproduct in één oogopslag helder en overzichtelijk maakt.

C Een bumper van maximaal 30 seconden die tussen de verschillende programmaonderdelen wordt vertoond. De bumper ondersteunt de identiteit van en jouw standpunt over de straat en maakt het programma visueel aantrekkelijk. Inhoudelijk onderzoek speelt hierin een bescheiden rol zodat dat je snel met animeren kan beginnen. Typografie is een verplicht onderdeel van deze bumper. Typeer/typografeer jouw straat in ieder geval in de titel.

D Een zelfgekozen onderdeel waarin je jouw eigen fascinatie kan uitwerken. De keuze hiervoor volgt uit het standpunt dat je hebt ingenomen t.o.v. jouw straat en kan verschillende vormen aannemen: b.v. een portret, een decor, trailer, spel, infographic, boekje, site, interactieve toepassing, ... Het onderdeel dat je uitvoert dient ter ondersteuning van het programma. De conclusies uit het onderzoek zijn leidend voor dit onderdeel.

Sportclub Mergendise

For this project i chose synchronised swimming! Sounds very special and it was! Most of the time we are overflood by stereotypes and chlichés. Well i put the sportclub Synchro Breda in a complete new world... i chose for a mascot that nobody would relate to synchronised swimming. I chose for the red parrot. My concept was between water and air. Two elements between this sport is practised.

It treated the subject of a future city and how someone dreamed of it...

WOW what a great study period!
I really had fun to animate a story, i wrote when i was 14.
I think i will chose Animation to specialise on, caus i develloped a real passion for this work!

Citymap for BREDA

This map is supposed to show children in the age of 10-12 years, the history of Breda.
I concentrated on the military history, cause the city is famous because of the kingly military academy there. While other students in my class had other subjects like a candy route, urban sport or adventure tour, i put the military history on a chess board...
